😠 I have been hosting my website since 2004 with Gearworx. Until two years ago everything ran pretty well, minimal issues. Last two years the environment got less stable, with mail server issues, and no reaction on my support tickets. Last month, Gearworx let expire my domain, resulting in loss of my domain I have used for more than 10 years now, including my family's email addresses and website. I have entered numerous support tickes, sent emails to all known Gearworx websites, but to no avail. I guess I will have lost my domain forever.
If you had asked me two years ago, I would have recommended this hosting company, however, everything has changed for the worst, and I reluctantly have to warn possible customers against non-existent support from this company!

😠 I wouldn't recommend Gearworx to my worst enemy. Customer service and technical support are non-existent. Nobody ever answers the phone and voicemails are never returned. The average response time for a trouble ticket or billing inquiry is one week. One week!
The straw that broke the camel's back for me happened when I tried to create a new email account - a task that should only take 10 seconds. The new email didn't work (of course) and more than 2.5 weeks went by without a response from "support." That's when I decided to transfer all my domain registrations and hosting services to another company.
Of course, Gearworx never responded when I requested the necessary transfer authorization codes (surprise, surprise). I had to get ICANN involved.
FYI, Gearworx has an "F" rating with the BBB. It's LLC papers have been suspended by the California Secretary of State office at the request of the Franchise Tax Board. It is not a legit company - do not engage in business with

🗨 Your domain EPP codes were emailed. However, there is no way to track the email receipt as they are sent from the registrar and not directly from Gearworx.
As fro BBB, we have opted out of that program and while the LLC status is suspended, it is because the company is no longer an LLC. This is an artifact from the past.

😃 I think the reason there are so many negative reviews on this site is because people are more likely to write a review when they are upset. If people who that are happy with Gearworx wrote a review, i'm sure there would be more positive reviews then negative.
I have had no major problems with Gearworx. They've given me more versatility than any other hosting companies I have used thus far. You have full ability to access the servers & databases remotely using Studio Management or SQL Enterprise Manager.
The customer support is outstanding, thought they can use improvement on their websites and knowledgebase. They've respond fairly fast to any questions I have or, at least have had.
There are still some quirks, the uptime is good, but there are still a some hiccups here and there. Also, the ticket response is just a little slow for my taste. In the past they have been able to help me resolve issues that affect my customers. That's SO very important and worth the little extra [read more...]

😃 We have been hosting with Gearworx for nearly 5 years. Of those 5 years, we have not had the need to contact support. However, there were a few occasions that we contacted support in relation to email services. They were able to resolve the issue within a reasonable amount of time.

😠 This has been the worst experience I have ever had with any hosting companies. I had a VPS with Gearworx and it my box kept going down AT LEAST once a week. What a joke! On top of that, support was marginal at best. No phone support and the response time is longer than 24 hours. Their services would probably be OK if one wanted to run a hobby website but it is impossible to run any sort of business with any degree of confidence. I should have left them as soon as the problem started (the first month) but I kept giving them too many chances. I would never recommend them to anyone unless they are OK with 80% uptime.

😠 My site is down, and I've had an outstanding support ticket since December 7th. It's been two full weeks and I've yet to hear a word out of support. I'm not the only one with problems, Twitter is exploding with furious customers. Their live support is AWLAYS offline, and nobody picks up at their phone number (which I had to get from WHOIS).
The price was decent, but the numerous service problems make it a huge waste of money. My sites were consistently slow, and their is no documentation at all for their control panel software.

😁 I have had a few minor glitches with little things like stats and such but the support has been great. I really have appreciated Will Sani in particular. He has been a great help setting up certain parts of our account. The support response is extremely fast too with responses only taking a few minutes most of the time. You are the Maytag of Webhosting.
