Adeptia CEO Lou Ennuso Inducted into Chicago Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame

📅 - Microsoft Patches 19 Year Old Windows Bug - Microsoft has patched a 19 year old bug found that has been present since Windows 95.

The vulnerability was discovered by researchers at IBM in May, though the bug was not announced until this month because both IBM and Microsoft was working to patch it before going public, BBC reports.

“In some respects, this vulnerability has been sitting in plain sight for a long time despite many other bugs being discovered and patched in the same Windows library,” said IBM researcher Robert Freeman via blog post. “…it indicates that there may be other bugs still to be discovered.”

📅 - U.S. Agency Reportedly Using Fake Cellphone Towers From Airplanes To Access Mobile Data Information - Thousands of user's cell phone data is being accessed by a secret program ran by the U.S. Justice Department, in which they are using fake communications towers from airplanes to gather information from both criminals and non-criminals.

According to a report from Reuters, the U.S. Marshals Service program, which began in 2007, uses Cessna jets from five major metropolitan airports to access data.

The aircrafts use devices, also known as “dirtboxes,” to collect information by imitating cell phone towers, in which cell phones then reveal their registration data.
