May, 2003 : Feature Price for Sale, Possibly Sold: Reports

📅 - The fate of Florida-based Web hosting firm Feature Price took a confusing turn Monday when DotRegistrar, apparently one of several firms that provide domain name registration services to Feature Price clients, said the company had been sold to an undisclosed party for an undisclosed sum.

'We were not told the identity of the purchaser, his or her (or its) location, how to communicate with the new owner, or what the status of domain names hosted by Feature Price might be," a notice on DotRegistrar's site read.
The company said that Feature Price's attorney had further informed the company that DotRegistrar no longer had the authority to renew expired and existing domain names of Feature Price customers. "Further, our contact at Feature Price itself has stopped answering our emails," the notice said.
The Florida Attorney General's office has confirmed there is an investigation into the company, which many customers have complained has ceased correspondence and client support, leaving the status of many accounts in the air. An e-mail campaign by frustrated customers prompted a local NBC affiliate television station to visit the company's offices last week, and found stacks of boxes in the company's office that appeared ready for moving.
The same report confirmed the company was for sale and that the Economic Crimes Unit of the Florida Attorney General's office took company records and employee depositions last Thursday.
